James Garfield Bobblehead (PRE-ORDER)
James A. Garfield, the 20th President of the United States, served from March to September 1881 before his presidency was cut short by assassination. A seasoned Civil War veteran and former Congressman from Ohio, Garfield was a stalwart advocate for civil service reform and a champion of education and veterans' rights. His presidency, though brief, was marked by his efforts to curtail the spoils system and promote merit-based appointments. Tragically, Garfield's tenure was marred by his assassination in July 1881 by Charles J. Guiteau, a disgruntled office seeker, leading to his death in September after a prolonged and painful illness. His assassination underscored the urgent need for reform in the federal appointment process, ultimately leading to significant changes in how government positions were filled.
