James Buchanan Bobblehead (PRE-ORDER)
James Buchanan (1791–1868) was the 15th President of the United States, serving from 1857 to 1861, and remains one of the most controversial figures in American history. Born in Cove Gap, Pennsylvania, Buchanan was a lawyer and career politician who held numerous positions, including Congressman, Senator, Secretary of State, and U.S. Minister to the United Kingdom. His presidency was dominated by escalating tensions over slavery and states' rights, and his inability to address or resolve these issues is often criticized. Buchanan supported the Supreme Court's Dred Scott decision, which denied citizenship to African Americans and further inflamed sectional divisions. He believed in strict constitutionalism and non-interference, but his inaction during the secession crisis paved the way for the Civil War. Often ranked among the least effective U.S. presidents, Buchanan retired to Pennsylvania after his term, maintaining that his efforts were misunderstood by history.
